Gonzaga captures another WCC title

Gonzaga took control early and cruised past Loyola Marymount 91-54 on Thursday at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

The 17th-ranked Zags (20-5, 11-0 WCC) earned at least a share of their ninth straight conference title and they will be the No. 1 seed in the WCC Tournament next month.

Steven Gray made five 3-pointers and led GU with 23 points Josh Heytvelt had 18 points, Micah Downs 16 and Austin Daye 13. Heytvelt and Daye combined for 21 points in the first half as Gonzaga led 41-22, despite giving up a four-point play to Corey Counts (3-pointer and free throw) in the closing seconds.
