No surprises in 3A basketball

The favorites moved on as expected in the Greater Spokane League District 8 seeding tournament. Top seeded Shadle Park beat Mt. Spokane and North Central ran off 15 straight points to beat Rogers in boys. The Indians are at the Highlanders tonight at 7:15 p.m. Shadle's girls host East Valley in the 5:30 opener. Shadle beat North Central and the surging Knights, whose Morgan Manchester has averaged 21.5 points over her last four games topped Mt. Spokane.

Rogers host Mt. Spokane in a game for third and fourth and Mt. Spokane girls host NC. Regional begins next week.

Also tonight, Lewis and Clark is at Gonzaga Prep for the District 8 4A championship and Ferris is at Mead. Winner of second game plays loser of first Friday for the second regional berth. Mead's girls are at LC for the district title and University is at CV for the right to move on, winner facing the Mead-LC loser for regional. It also begins on Tuesday.
