Idaho: Boys postseason

Postseason tournaments continue this week for North Idaho boys basketball teams, while wrestlers head to state, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena.

The 5A Region I championship will be decided Tuesday when No. 3 seed Post Falls visits No. 1 Lewiston at 7 p.m. The winner advances to state.

In a 5A Region I loser-out game Tuesday, No. 4 Coeur d’Alene is at No. 2 Lake City at 7. The winner will face the Post Falls/Lewiston loser on Thursday in a game that will decide which team advances to a play-in game for a state berth.

The 4A Region I championship is on the line Tuesday when No. 2 Sandpoint goes to No. 1 Moscow at 7. If Moscow wins, the Bears go to state. If Sandpoint wins, an if-necessary game would be played Thursday.

The 3A District I-II tournament begins Tuesday at North Idaho College. In the first game, No. 3 seed Kellogg meets No. 6 Timberlake at 6 followed by No. 4 Orofino taking on No. 5 Bonners Ferry at 7:30. Both games are loser out. The tourney continues Wednesday with double-elimination action featuring the Kellogg-Timberlake winner against No. 2 St. Maries at 6 followed by the Orofino-Bonners Ferry winner against No. 1 Priest River at 7:30. The top two teams earn state berths. The district title game is Friday at 7:30.

Lakeside travels to Wallace on Tuesday in a 1A Division I playoff at 7. The winner advances to a play-in game Saturday for a state berth.

In 1A Division II, Kootenai will take on the District III runner-up in a play-in game Saturday at Grangeville.
