Gross AWOL as Eags prepare for ISU

Good afternoon.

I have links to several items concerning EWU's men's basketball team, which entertains Big Sky Conference rival Idaho State at 7:05 tonight at Reese Court.

The Eagles will be without Trey Gross, whose whereabouts are still a mystery to EWU coach Kirk Earlywine after the sophomore guard did not return to school following Christmas break.  You can read more here.

In addition, I've included this link to a feature story on Eastern's junior point guard and Big Sky scoring leader Benny Valentine, who overcame some legal problems en route to Cheney.

Read on.

I have a message into the Detroit Pistons PR guy, who is suppose to put me in touch with Rodney Stuckey after the team practices today in Denver.  I'm doing a story on Stuckey in conjunction with the jersey retirement ceremony EWU has planned for him on Sunday afternoon when the Eagles entertain Weber State at Reese Court.

In case you missed it, Stuckey was named the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week. You can get more details here and here.

Stuckey, who has a game in Denver on Friday and Salt Lake City on Saturday, plans to be on hand when his jersey is retired on Sunday and will be available to the public after the game for an autograph session, where he will sign one item per person with fans being provided a commemorative replica card of the Stuckey banner that will hang at Reese Court.

Tickets for Sunday's game are available via ticketswest.com or at 1-800-325-7328, with a $2 discount available on adult tickets in the upper reserved section of Reese Court.

For more details on Sunday's planned ceremony, check here, and for notes on tonight's game against ISU -- which include more details on Stuckey -- check here.  You can access more information on Idaho State here.
