NIT first fiddle for WSU

With the NCAA Tournament hype in full blow-up mode – if WSU was in the tournament, we'd be joining in, I'm sure – there is little room left for the stepchild, the NIT. But we did find a couple things to pass on to you. By the way, they'll be showing the game in Beasley Coliseum tonight, though there weren't many students in town yesterday. Read on.

• We had our story on the blog here last night and we'll pass on the version that appeared in The Spokesman-Review this morning. ... Freelancer Howie Stalwick had an advance in the News Tribune today, while part of my Monday story appeared in the Seattle Times. ... The Gaels seem to be over their disappointment of not being in the hyped tourney, as this San Jose Mercury News story shows. Though this San Francisco Chronicle story indicates otherwise.

• That's all we could find this morning. We're waiting for our connection to Oakland in SeaTac right now, hoping that the plane is on time (points given for anyone who can name the '70s song referenced here, with plane substituting for train – it is on my iPod). We'll have our usual pregame post with some thoughts on the keys for WSU (sneak preview: Diamon Simpson's name will come up). Until then …
