• We had the news about Jake Rodgers (here's this morning's story) and the budget process WSU is beginning – a $350,000 cut in the school's support of athletics and a $1 million scholarship increase have to be accounted for – on yesterday evening's post, so we really don't need to go into that too much more. But besides that, there is precious little to link. ... The baseball team defeated Stanford to remain in second in the Pac-10 (it is the second item in this roundup). ... As most of you know, UW dumped swimming yesterday. ... As for the WSU women's rugby club, the official USA Rugby website has not updated Friday's matches and there's nothing on host Stanford website either. However, the San Jose Mercury news did run a schedule of today's Division II championships, with Stonehill facing Shippensburg, so it looks like Shippensburg defeated the Cougars, but what the score was, I don't know. UPDATE: Received a nice email from Tod Pickett who relayed the news Shippensburg scored 30 unanswered points and defeated WSU 37-7 Friday.
