• When examining items or programs that aren’t on my list of interests, for example I’m writing something about the University of Tennessee, there is a fear inside about committing a form of intellectual fraud. When you do a drive-by writing exercise, there is a great possibility of inaccuracy. That always scares me. So, at times, I over-research items and end up with trying to cram too much in. I’m passing this along as way of explaining my understanding of the factual errors contained within this New York Times blog entry about Washington State football. Though the overall piece is more accurate than not, there are just enough mistakes (I didn’t know Andy Mattingly was a defensive end in 2007) to undermine credibility – and elicit a few laughs.
