Football moment of reckoning

Lewis and Clark’s easy victory over Kennewick last night could, like last year, be a harbinger of things to come. Last year the Tigers beat Kamiakin by four TDs and the Greater Spokane League won every crossover matchup with the Columbia Basin Big Nine.

Proof will be in the pudding beginning tonight with Mt. Spokane hosting Sunnyside at Joe Albi Stadium, 5:30 p.m., followed by Mead against Southridge at 8 for state berths. CV is at Albi, 3 p.m. tomorrow against Kamiakin. There are also the crossover contests going on as season enders for the rest of the schools. It will be interesting to see what transpires.

Mike, whatever happened to the football player from Colville who was in critical condition (at least initially) after a concussion/head injury a few weeks ago? Is he going to be OK?

I think that there is a system set up under the Jason Lystedt Act to monitor head injuries and concussions. What do the numbers show as far as how many have been reported? What sorts of comments are you getting from local AD’s on how the new concussion law is working? What are you hearing from football coaches versus soccer coaches? Is there much of a difference in attitude? What are you hearing from people in youth sports like Grid Kids, Pop Warner, Parochial League and SYSA?

Maybe Greg can weigh in with how the concussion issue is dealt with in Idaho where there is no concussion law. Is there any move afoot to see legislation in Boise on this?

Hope to see something in one of your columns.

I’ll try to post updates on the Wenatchee/Ferris game tonight - will be monitoring by calling family in Wenatchee.

  • rawkmandale on November 06 at 7:31 p.m.

    Ferris 21
    Wenatchee 0

Two tunovers against Wenatchee, and an onside kick recovered by Ferris. Halliday to Bates is deadly.

  • rawkmandale on November 06 at 7:45 p.m.

    Jacob Sealby for 45 yards.

Thanks for the score updates on Ferris Wenatchee. The game was supposed to be broadcast on KPQ.com, but they’re carrying the Chelan game instead. Go Saxons!

    U-Hi over Moses Lake 20 - 17 2 OT

  • Football on November 07 at 3:56 p.m.

Gonzaga Prep crushed Eastmont last night. RB Bishop Sankey Rushed for 291 yards on 23 carries and scored 5 TD’s 2 were called backed. Threw for 1 TD with 100 yards passing .
Prep ran the wild cat offense with Bishop and Jack Wilson in the back Field.

Maybe a glimpse of whats to come next year?

RB Bishop Sankey rushed for over 2000 yards rushing for the season with last nights game. He accomplished this task in 9 games.

    Great Job!

Football, any more details? I can’t find a complete line score anywhere. I heard that Conner Johnson went down and Prep was down to its JV QB. Was the wildcat formation borne of design or necessity? I also note that they must have either missed a bunch of extra points or missed on some 2 pont conversions. Did the kicking game go south again?
