Tonight we find out how good our teams were this year with the first round of state football games. From the GSL, Ferris hosts Kamiakin, winner 21-0 over CV last week; Mt. Spokane is in Richland against Hanford.
In 2A, West Valley is home tonight against Selah, Clarkston and Colville hit the road against Ellensburg and Othello tonight and Saturday respectively. And 2B playoff perennials Colfax and Reardan represent District 7.
I’ve linked to my stories today in The Spokesman-Review.

Good luck to all local teams in VB and FB. Hope that everybody drives safely with snow forecast.
Basketball (boys & girls) and wrestling starts practice Monday, Nov. 16. Games should begin after 10 practices are in. I think VB and FB players only need 5 practices if they go straight to BB with no intervening break.
On my pet topic, head injuries, I heard a report on the news this morning that one group’s answer is to have kids go back to Jim Thorpe days and start playing football without a helmet, so they will quit hitting head-first. I don’t think that would solve them all. A lot of the football players seem to get concussions from getting hit and hitting the ground with the backs of their heads.
