Good afternoon. Hope everybody’s day is going well. We’ve got some notes for you to peruse before the game starts. Enjoy. Read on.
• I have to say, it looks as if the UCLA Bruins are trying to embrace the weather. There are more than a few of them on the field in shorts and shirt sleeves, including a few players who are shirtless. There are also a few throwing snowballs, including starting quarterback Kevin Prince. Bad news for Bruin fans, though. When Prince tried to hit another player with a snowball from less than 10 yards, he missed badly. And omen? … UCLA running back Christian Ramirez is not on the trip, the LA Times’ Chris Foster reported. It was termed a coaching decision. Ramirez was the top running back when camp started but has steadily dropped down the depth chart. … As for the Cougars injury situation, as we’ve been saying, there is little chance Jeff Tuel will suit up today, let alone play. The same is true for Chima Nwachukwu, Nico Grasu, Tyson Pencer and Tony Thompson. Four more starters sidelined in a season of injuries. The replacements will be Marshall Lobbestael, Jay Matthews (if he can go with his bum shoulder) and Andrei Lintz, if WSU uses a tight end more than the four plays they did against Arizona. … One more thing. The Cougar defense has some surprises ready for UCLA today. Whether it will be enough to disrupt the Bruin offense remains to be seen.
• That’s it for now. We’ll be back at halftime. Until then …
