Shock add pair, including QB Hansen

The Shock have added two more players, including Casey Hansen, the backup quarterback on the 2009 team. The other addition is DL Vaka Manupuna.

More below, and there’s more on Hansen here and Manupuna here.

The Spokane Shock announced that QB Casey Hansen and DL Vaka Manupuna have been added to the 2010 roster.

Hansen, 6-5 230, spent the 2009 season with the ArenaCup Champion Shock – his first season in the Arena game.

During the regular season, Hansen played in 11 games and completed over 72% of his passes (42/58) including 13 touchdown passes without a single interception. Hansen finished the season with a 141.02 QB rating, the highest on the team.

“Last season, Casey came in as a rookie and put up some good numbers. He earned the right to compete for a spot as the starting QB for the upcoming season,” Head Coach Rob Keefe said. “He is familiar with our system and when you combine that with his physical ability that makes for a good QB.”

Manupuna, 6-1 295, spent the 2008 season with Utah where he collected 16 tackles – with two sacks – for the Blaze.

In addition to his AFL experience, Manupuna has NFL experience as a member of the Washington Redskins (2006, 2007) and the New York Jets’ (2006) practice squads. Most recently, he signed a free-agent contract with the Redskins earlier this year and was released in training camp shortly before the start of the 2009 regular season.

Manupuna spent his collegiate career at Colorado where he collected 106 tackles in 50 games for the Buffaloes. As a senior, he received an Honorable Mention, from both the league coaches and the Associated Press, on the All Big-12 team.
