Plenty to read about EWU, Big Sky officials

There is no shortage of midweek news concerning Eastern Washington University's football team -- which will play at Woodward Field for the final time this season on Saturday -- and the Big Sky Conference, which admitted its officials did a shabby job in last weekend's EWU-Montana game in Missoula.

But the best read is this John Blanchette column that ran in Wednesday morning's S-R and skewers not only the striped shirts who made such a debacle of Eastern's hard-luck 31-24 loss to the Grizzlies, but Big Sky commish Doug Fullerton, as well.

For more on EWU -- including an S-R feature on the Eagles' senior quarterback Matt Nichols -- and its Big Sky showdown against Montana State on Saturday, read on.

Nichols, a four-year starter who now holds nearly every on of Eastern's meaningful pass records, will be among 16 seniors making their final appearance at Woodward Stadium this weekend.  This feature on Nichols ran in Wednesday morning's S-R.

In addition, we've included this link to what the EWU sports information department published about Saturday's Homecoming game against Montana State, and this link to a Bozeman Daily Chronicle story on the MSU's recent rash of injuries.

The weekly football press release from the Big Sky office can be found here.
