Panhandle picks

My weekly Panhandle Picks has found a new home.

For the past 14 years, you’ve been able to turn to the Prep Page for my weekly high school football predictions. But we just don’t have the space we once had, so starting this week and continuing through the playoffs, you can check them out at Sportslink.

So click the tab below and check out the picks.

Lewis and Clark at Lake City: This was probably made easier after Lake City lost at Sandpoint. Say what? Yes, I think Lake City will play with more urgency this week. They face a team that has had 17 straight winning seasons, but has some holes to fill due to graduation. I see the Timberwolves bouncing back. Lake City 21, Lewis and Clark 14.

Borah at Post Falls: This is a good season debut for the Trojans, especially at home. Post Falls wants to prove it belongs at the 5A level. With a new and talented backfield, the Trojans should romp at home. PF 28, Borah 14.

Cheney at Lakeland: It wasn’t pretty for the Hawks last week (see 57-7 loss to Coeur d’Alene). Lakeland will have its hands full with Cheney, which features a talented quarterback. Two years ago when Lakeland made the 4A state playoffs it had a slow start. So hang in there Hawk fans. Cheney 28, Lakeland 14.

Moscow at Timberlake: The Bears feature perhaps the fastest player in the state in running back Jayson Washington. And he could give the Tigers fits. But Timberlake has a better team. Timberlake 28, Moscow 21.

Sandpoint at Colville: The Bulldogs got off to a great start in a 35-7 win over Lake City. This will be a test for Sandpoint, though. Colville may be a small school, but they have plenty of talent to battle the Bulldogs. Sandpoint 21, Colville 20.

Other games:

Priest River/Medical Lake: PR 21, ML 14

Clark Fork/Mullan: Mullan 40, Clark Fork 28

Kootenai/Lakeside: Kootenai 42, Lakeside 28

Kellogg/Grangeville: Grangeville 28, Kellogg 21

Lethbridge/Bonners Ferry: Lethbridge 28, BF 20
