Vital to redshirt, other Idaho notes

Not a whole lot of time, but a few items of note from Robb Akey’s morning teleconference. The coach is planning on redshirting sophomore tailback Troy Vital. He was a nice addition to last year’s team, but with the glut of running backs — and DeMaundray’s Woolridge’s emergence — this seems to be a wise move. Akey reiterated that Woolridge will get more carries after his breakout game last week — and that he expects Vital to have a tremendous Vandal career.

Also, linebacker JoJo Dickson has been named WAC defensive player of the week after his 74-yard interception return in the win over San Diego State. He had a nice game for sure, but I honestly thought this award could have gone to Jonah Sataraka as well.

One last thing: The UI-Colorado State game on Oct. 3 at the Kibbie Dome has been moved to ESPNU and a new time slot — 7:30 p.m. Pacific. So much for that natural light from the new panels.
