Saint Martin’s seniors Zack, Mielke get home game at EWU

This week's women's basketball notebook is the second chapter catching up with seniors from the local Class of 2007. Though Dara Zack (University) and Roni Jo Mielke (Sprague-Harrington) didn't end up at Division I schools, they have made a big contribution at Saint Martin's and they're coming home Saturday for a game at Eastern Washington.

Among the notes: The first NCAA statistics are out and Gonzaga's Courtney Vandersloot has resumed her spot atop the assists chart, averaging 9.1, almost two more than second place. She led the nation last year at 9.4. The senior All-American and two-time regining West Coast Player of the Year still manages to keep her teammates involved despite bumping her scoring average to 19.3, up from 14.1 last year.

Tonight it's South Dakota State at Washington State. On Wednesday Montana is at Idaho.
