• Here's the short ...

PULLMAN – Former Eastern Washington University head coach Mike Kramer has been hired as the football operations assistant at Washington State, WSU confirmed Monday.

In the position, which reports to operations coordinator Shawn Deeds, Kramer will be working for his former assistant at Eastern, Paul Wulff. The non-coaching position has been unfilled for more than six months. Kramer, who lives in Colton, Wash., began work at WSU last week.

Kramer, who was 37-32 in his six seasons as Eagles' head coach, left EWU for Montana State and was replaced by Wulff. Starting at MSU in 2000, Kramer won three Big Sky titles and posted a 40-43 mark before being dismissed in May, 2007.

Kramer contested the dismissal and a lawsuit he filed against MSU is scheduled to come to trial in August.

The Cougars also have hired Sheldon Cross as a graduate assistant. Cross was most recently head coach at Bellevue's Interlake High.
