WSU, shooting well, leads 45-34

COUGARS

Guess we should have seen that coming. It's been awhile since Klay Thompson has gone off. But with dad Mychal in the stands, he hit his five 3-pointers, attacked the basket when needed and had 23 points before halftime. He finished the half 8 of 11 on shooting, leading the Cougars to 65.4 percent shooting. If you are wondering, in his 43-point effort against USD in Alaska, Thompson was 8 of 13 from beyond the arc. ... The problem is the defensive problems we pointed out earlier means WSU is going to have to outscore the Bears to win. Jerome Randle has taken advantage of the Cougars switching the screens to step back and nail some long 3s of his own. He finished with 12. However, whenever he took the ball to the rim, he was denied, being blocked as WSU has nine blocked shots. We'll be back at the end.
