WSU's work week begins

Another basketball week begins in Pullman, with coach Ken Bone meeting with the media, practice for a key weekend with the Northern California schools and the Pac-10 media call. Read on for links.

• Washington State: We had this short story about football recruits who stepped on campus yesterday, which we posted and put in the paper (though the link is not available). ... Freelancer Howie Stalwick covered the same ground in the Kitsap Sun and other papers.

• Around the Pac-10: There are no Pacific 10 Conference basketball teams in the national rankings for the first time since, well since I was a young man (1987 to be exact). ... The Huskies were the last team standing, but two road losses knocked them out. ...'s Seth Davis thinks the best major conference race in the nation will be in the Pac-10. And the stakes could be the highest as well. ... LaMicheal James is going to run track for Oregon. By joining the track team, now he's got a chance to become a real star on that campus.

• That's it for this morning. We'll be back this afternoon with news and notes. Until then …
