Vilarino schedules three visits

A quick update on former Zag guard G.J. Vilarino.

Gerry Vilarino, G.J.’s father, said his son has at least three visits scheduled, one an unofficial trip to a university Gerry declined to identify.

Vilarino will visit Appalachian State and another school (it’s apparently not in the Northwest) this week. He’ll also visit Illinois next week. Gerry Vilarino didn’t rule out additional visits. He said they’re taking their time because they want to make sure they make the best decision.

Appalachian State, located in Boone, N.C., plays in the Southern Conference (Davidson, etc.) and is coached by Jason Capel, brother of Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel. Gonzaga beat Big Ten member Illinois last year in Chicago and the teams will square off this season in the Battle in Seattle. Vilarino will have to sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules.
