Meyer has pinched nerve

Game time in about 20 minutes, plenty of time for a quick injury update.

Turns out Shock backup quarterback Erik Meyer isn't sick, as the team and head coach Rob Keefe have maintained the last two weeks. Meyer has a pinched nerve in his neck, the result of an innocuous side-arm pass in practice about 10 days ago.

The former EWU standout experienced some numbness and suffered back spasms soon after throwing the pass. By rule, he must be on I-R for at least four weeks. Brian Zbydniewski will be Kyle Rowley's backup for the next four games.

Also, receiver Markee White is slowly improving from an AC joint separation in his shoulder. The severity of White's injury was between a 2 and 3 (4 is the most severe). The team hopes he can return in 3-4 weeks.

I'll be back with two post-game posts -- a quick wrap-up at about 11:15 and another (with quotes) at midnight.
