Saint Mary’s Mickey McConnell scored 26 points and Ben Allen added 20 as the Gaels defeated Gonzaga 81-62 in the WCC men’s championship game Monday.
The two combined for eight 3-pointers as the Gaels hit 10 of 21 from long distance. The Gaels took advantage of 14 Gonzaga turnovers to hold an 18-2 edge in points off turnovers.
Steven Gray led GU with 16 points and Matt Bouldin added 14.
