WSU trails 32-31 at half

COUGARS

Kevin Olekaibe's steal and dunk gave Fresno State a 32-31 halftime lead before a sparse crowd in the Save Mart Center tonight. We have some thoughts on the link, so read on.
••••••••••

• Maybe Fresno State's problems shooting the 3 this season is the arena itself. The Cougars, who came in shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc, hit just 3 of their 12 attempts, including an 0 for 3 performance from Patrick Simon. Klay Thompson (1-3) and Faisal Aden (2-5) haven't lit it up from long-range either. But, heck, WSU is shooting just 42.9 percent from the floor, with Aden 4 for 10 and Simon 0 for 4. ... The Bulldogs are worse overall (37.5 percent) and from beyond the arc (22.2) but have eight offensive rebounds, so they have four more shots. Fresno has a 23-17 edge on the glass, with Greg Smith leading the way with six, the same number as Brock Motum. ... A little more patience on offense, a little better rebounding and WSU can survive playing without Reggie Moore and DeAngelo Casto. If not, Fresno wins. ...
