No Walter, WSU isn’t on TV today

COUGARS

The second-longest Pac-10 trip for Washington State’s athletic teams is here, with only the jaunt down Interstate 10 to Tucson longer. But the Cougar football team’s trip to Phoenix last night was even longer than usual with the weather delay and extra bus trip. No matter what, though, the game will be played today at 4 p.m. You can’t watch it, but you can listen and follow along with our tweets. For now, though, read on.

• Washington State: Hey, a shout out to gocougs 05, who referenced one of my favorite movies, “The Big Lebowski.” Actually, I’ve been a huge Coen Brothers fan ever since the first time I saw “Miller’s Crossing,” which is one of my top three favorite movies. My son and I took a gamble one day and watched Lebowski with my then 80-year-old dad. Didn’t know how he was going to take it. He laughed. Constantly. … On to Cougar sports, other than bowling. … We had a lot of links last night on our late post last night – by the way, this time of year Arizona and Washington are on the same time (no daylight savings time in the state) – including to our advance. If you want to read our 2-minute drill, however, you’ll have to click here. … WSU commit Bishop Sankey set a Greater Spokane League rushing record last night. The league’s top rushers are in a box on the left. … Some thoughts on containing Arizona State’s offense. … And some of Klay Thompson’s thoughts from Pac-10 media day. … .

• Around the Pac-10: We linked Ted Miller’s main items last night. … Sometimes it’s tough to figure out who to root for in this conference. … Washington: Today’s game in Seattle features two top quarterbacks. That happens a lot in the Pac-10. … Oregon State: Today’s game in Corvallis features an episode of “The United States of Tara.” … Parts of the Beavers’ defensive personality are missing. … Oregon: Though USC is on probation, a victory tonight in LA would help the Ducks with the computers. … How charitable should the Oregon coaching staff be? … Cal: The Bears struggle against the Beavers. At least they have in Jeff Tedford’s tenure. … Stanford: Getting back two key players from injury is like making a trade in pro sports. … USC: Key matchups in the Coliseum today. … UCLA: Key matchups in the Rose Bowl today. … Arizona State: Former Sun Devil quarterbacks have a lot to say. … A preview of today’s game. The home team hasn’t been here for a while. … Arizona: No wonder Arizona wanted to stay in the same division with USC and UCLA.

• That’s all for this morning. We’ll be back before today’s game. Until then …
