Chiefs reassign four players

After four days of training camp, capped by the intrasquad game on Sunday, the Spokane Chiefs sent half of the 70 players home.

After two more days of practice they reassigned four more players, which means 31 players are headed for three games in three days at Everett beginning Friday afternoon.


Defensemen Boomer Rooney and Cole Wedman, both 16, have both been assigned to AAA Midget in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, defenseman Jordan Swenson, 17, has been assigned to AAA Midget in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and left wing Josh McEwan, 19, has been assigned to Junior A in Trail, BC.

Spokane will travel to Everett for the Silvertips Pre-Season Classic carrying 31 players; four goaltenders, nine defenseman and 18 forwards. By age, the Chiefs have three 20-year-olds, six 19-year-olds, 10 18-year-olds, nine 17-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old.

The Chiefs play Tri-City on Friday at 3:30. Saturday the Chiefs will play Seattle and Sunday they will take on Portland. Both games begin at 11:30 am.
