Tuesday morning from WSU

COUGARS

Tuesday mornings are never overflowing with new and notes as most every team is getting over its weekend-game hangover. Today is a little unusual as there are some things to link, so read on.

••••••••••

• Washington State: We took our first look at Montana State this morning. … Christian Caple has this blog post in the Moscow-Pullman Daily News looking back at the defeat. … We missed this yesterday, but here is a look back at the Bobcats first game. As an aside, if you think the WSU-UW rivalry is intense – and it is – then you’ve never been in Montana. The Grizzlies and Bobcats dislike each other so much, there are signs on each on-campus door is Bozeman that feature a picture of the UM Grizzly, with a circle around it and slash through it, and the words “No Grizzlies Allowed” underneath. … That’s about it for this morning, though I will pass on Cougfan reported yesterday another commitment for next season, WSU’s 14th, defensive tackle T.J. Poloai from Burbank High near Sacramento.

• Around the Pac-10: The last few seasons the conference’s defenses have been outstanding. The first game of this season, not so much … looking back at the week that was in the Pac-10. … The same thing here. … Washington: The Huskies’ special teams let them down against BYU, so there will be a few changes. … Another area of concern was the offensive line. Changes might be coming there as well. … After an unbroken string of recruiting success, UW finally lost one, as quarterback Brett Hundley committed to UCLA. … Oregon State: The Beavers have a bye this week. … Oregon: Register-Guard columnist George Schroeder has relatives in Tennessee. He’s already there and has sampled the food, drinks and hatred for Lane Kiffin. … Knoxville isn’t a welcoming place for visiting teams. … The Oregon d-line has a bulldog for a coach. … Cal: Who shined for the Bears. … Stanford: The Cardinal’s grades for the week. … USC: With a new coach and a new outlook, this isn’t the same Virginia squad the Trojans played a couple years ago. … UCLA: The first conference test of the season pits the Bruins vs. Stanford. … Arizona State: Maybe this is why Steven Threet won the starting job. The Sun Devils’ quarterback is expected to run a little bit now. … Arizona: Now this is scheduling. First Toledo and now the Citadel, an FCS school. The Wildcats are still leery.

• That’s all for this morning. There is the Pac-10 coaches call, Paul Wulff’s conference call, practice and then we’ll be back. Until then …

Vince, any news on the WR injuries front? Heck…looks like some of those walk on WRs may get playing time.

    avboden,

Per Wulff, Kristoph Williams will not play this week b/c of the turf toe. If he is not ready to go by the SMU game, he will likely be redshirted. However Simone and Karsetter should both be back.

Vince—I haven’t seen anything on season ticket sales this year? Do you know the totals? I heard that season tix were at some “post Mike Price” low that hasn’t been seen in sometime. I’m wondering if I can bring my air mattress this Saturday and just lay down across the seat row if things get bad?

    Vince (or anyone who knows),

I saw on the First Look that the game will be on FSN Alternate. I haven’t seen that anywhere else. Do you have any additional info on this?

Vince are they going away totaly from the “no Huddle” Idea?

spokanecougfan, since you pointed out I was just wrong for giving my opinion. Not knowing an opinion could be wrong.
I would like to ask you why would Coach Sturdy take the blame for poor tackling. He is the Offensive Coordinator/QB coach.
And we hired a new Special teams Coach. So I guess calling someone wrong, should be backed up by knowing what one is talking about.
I do believe the Blog is a place for our opinions if they can be backed up a little. expecailly with the facts correct.
My opinion is the loss didn’t look like the blow outs of the past even though it may of looked like it on the score board.

Yikes…..it takes Oklahoma State University (OSU) to show us just exactly where we are these days in College Athletics, eh?

Or don’t we want to remember the 81-29 beating Bennett Ball got from OSU prior to the best run of Cougar basketball in school history?

Yes, the defense was humbled by Kendall Hunter, but me thinks he will humble many defenses this year. There were sparks of offense, especially Jeff Tuel/Marquess Wilson and a ground game which moved the ball (Not withstanding the 1st play fumble/loss of Ricky Galvin).

It is always darkest just before the dawn and Paul Wulff inherited ‘Mission Impossible’ with no talent, penalties for poor academics, and scheduling nightmares.

Also lest we forget what T. Boone Pickens $150 Million buys these days, Cougar Sports will greatly benefit from the PAC-12 Expansion, Championship Game, and new TV Contract to the point where the playing field will be leveled.

Bill Moos has a plan and Paul Wulff needs another year of solid recruiting, a more favorable schedule, and developing some of the talent he has obtained.

Let’s not despair just yet and try to gain some momentum this weekend via a game we are capable of winning. Keep the faith and good things come to those with patience.

    Go Cougs!!

As painful as it is…..try and enjoy watching this program turn around. As long as Wulff does not hit the panic button, he will reach paydirt. And the recruits just keep on coming. Seriously, how can anyone not be impressed by this. The worst thing that could happen would be for someone else to gain credit for turning this program around. Fortunately, there are more intelligent people running this program than all the naysayers that keep chiming. Let Wulff’s talented recruits mature for crying out loud! Not to mention the additional scholarships that are coming online.
