The Mt. Spokane football team is poised to make another run at the Greater Spokane League title - despite my preseason prognostication. By the way, I finally confirmed that there will be two 3A state playoff berths available this fall - not one as originally thought.

Here are my Pick 6 football predictions. I had a blah effort last week.

Shadle Park girls cross country team opens GSL with big win over Central Valley (including roundup of area meets). Here's a link to second state rankings posted by Scott Spruill of the Yakima Herald-Republic newspaper.

Before the GSL football openers earlier this month, we polled Sportslink followers and asked which team they thought would capture the GSL title. Here are the results:

1) Gonzaga Prep, 30.99%; 2) Ferris, 12.68%; 3) Mead, 11.74%; 4) Central Valley, 10.8%; 5) Mt. Spokane, 8.92%; 6) University, 7.04%; 7) Lewis and Clark, 6.57%; 8) Shadle Park, 5.16%; 9) North Central, 3.29%; 10) Rogers, 2.82%.
