Any idea why they only needed 1 location in Eastern Washington for 4A but 2 locations for 3A? Is there that many more 3A schools then there are 4A this season?

You did not specify: Boys and Girls at same sites? Seems like some of those gyms cannot handle both genders at the same time.

Sorry. Yes boys and girls at each site. So at Richland, for example, they’ll start the games at about 4 with the last game at 9:15 on the first night. The 3As will be separated with the boys, I presume, at SFCC and the girls at Shadle.

Don’t like it at all. What about a school, community, fans and parents who if they have both teams in the first round of the state tourney could be in two different parts of the state. For, examlpe in the 1A’s where there was nine doubles last year ( a team with both boys and girls in the round of 16) One team could be in Spokane and the other in Yakima. Hate to be the parents who have to make a choice if the have a child on each team or the Coach of the boys team and his daughter is on the girls team. Just WRONG to do that to schools, communities, fans and parents on the biggest games of the season.

Instead of providing high school basketball athletes the unique experience of playing in great venues in front of their supporters, the WIAA has devised a system of playoff that will send teams to high school venues possibly on the same night and/or in different locations for the school’s boys’ and girls’ teams. This playoff system could easily deny fans and parents the option of seeing both teams and have to choose to follow the boys or girls for a State Playoff Game!
