Couldn't ask for a prettier day, with the sun shining, not a cloud to be seen and warmth on the way. It's almost as if Nike has rebranded April. Maybe it can pay my taxes as well? There is some Washington State news to report, so read on.

• Washington State: There is still a bit of a buzz surrounding last night's uniform unveiling, with pictures everywhere and opinions sprouting like spring wheat. We had some notes last night (with picture links) and John Blanchette had a column this morning, putting the new rebranding in the context of the changing face of college athletics. ... CougCenter's Grady Clapp grades the effort. ... By the way, the coolest part of the whole deal might be the big truck tooling around the Northwest with the WSU logos on it. ... Bud Withers had this story today on new Cougar center Taylor Meighen, who lost his sister to a tragic car fire in February. ... WSU gets back on the practice field today for the final week of spring football. Remember, the final spring scrimmage is in Spokane on Saturday.
