A Tuesday without snow

COUGARS

Crazy, isn't it? It's less than a week before Christmas and all through the Palouse, not a bit of snow could be seen, not even … oh heck, I'm not a Clement Clark Moore, so we'll quit trying to be. It is kind of interesting though, that there is no snow around. Some years you can't walk from the door to the truck without using a shovel. Read on.

• Washington State: Not much in the way of stories here – yesterday we were too busy cleaning out our Pullman apartment, making it ready for the next poor sucker (and by that, I mean you Christian), to write anything other than this news, which most of you have probably already read. The Cougar women did host No. 14 Louisville yesterday and came close to posting an upset.

• Around the Pac-12: A lot here, including some decent wins by the conference's basketball teams. … The best of which might have been USC's 83-59 victory over TCU, showing once again just when you think you have a college team figured out – the Trojans can't score – they do something odd. … California also had an easy, 70-50 win over UC Santa Barbara and did it without a sick Jorge Gutierrez. … Stanford routed Bethune-Cookman, 75-56 to go to 10-1. … Utah won its second consecutive game, stopping Portland, 72-67. … There was the obligatory bad loss, however, with Arizona State shot down by Southern Mississippi at the buzzer, 64-61. … The Huskies' loss on Sunday is still reverberating throughout purple country, with Steve Kelley asking a question in today's Times. … Former Oregon freshman Jabari Brown seems to have found a home. … After the Ducks lost to Virginia on Sunday, someone hacked their website. … Oregon is the subject of the most stories when it comes to football, with the Ducks trying to figure out how to start faster in the Rose Bowl. … ASU will be without one of its best pass rushers when it faces Boise State this week. … UCLA is just trying to figure out who will be able to play. … UW will use its tight end a lot.

• That's all for this morning. We'll be back if events warrant. Until later …
