Cougs’ Romberg honored by Pac-10
A dirty dozen, that's how many years since the Washington State women's basketball team had five conference wins in a season. But after a home sweep of the Oregon schools the Cougars are 5-6.
As a result, freshman Sage Romberg earned the Pac-10 Player of the Week honor. It's almost exactly a year since the last Cougar was recognized. (Also, LeftCoastHoops throws some love the Cougars' way.)
It's only the 12th POW award ever for a Cougar, or about how many Stanford, this Thursda's opponent, wins every year. Speaking of dominating awards, Courtney Vandersloot of Gonzaga is the WCC Player of the Month for January. It's her second monthly honor this seasona and sixth of her career to go with 11 weekly honors. And Katie Loper (Post Falls) gets her sixth weekly newcomer award for Hofstra.
