Arizona beckons WSU this week

COUGARS

One day of practice then it's on to Arizona for the Washington State Cougars. The longest road trip of the Pac-10 year starts Thursday night in Tucson. We'll be there. But before we leave tomorrow, a lot to get done, starting with this morning's post. Read on.

••••••••••

• Washington State: Not sure how happy anyone will be to read this, but we had this brief in the paper this morning (second item). ... The Cougars first opponent on the Arizona swing is now ranked 12th in the nation, something the players crowed about a little Monday. Think the Wildcats, 13-0 at home, might look past the Cougars to UW on Saturday?

•••

• Around the Pac-10: The conference player of the week was Isaiah Thomas. It was the Husky point guard's third award this season. Hard work does pay off. ... A former Oregon basketball coach likes what he sees. ... Finally, this news might have big implications for the Pac-12. More bidders usually means more money on the table.

•••

• That's all for this morning. We'll be back later with Ken Bone's thoughts about the Arizona trip. Until then ...
