Mat Classic was classic

Wow. It's midnight 30 and I'm finally back to where my pillow is, where I left it 16-plus hours ago after just a 5 hour relationship.

That's what I wrote 20 minutes ago, before I lost my post. Now I have to start over. Read on, but I can't say its any better the second time around.

After spending 4 hours watching the finals at Mat Classic in the Tacoma Dome, I had to call on old friend Ron Newberry to send in stories because I was knocked off line and rebooting on deadline didn't help. Don't know the problem, I got on at 10 a.m. and all seemed fine.

I filed 3 stories, a 3A one detailing U-Hi's controversial near miss, 2A on Deer Park's run to a fourth-straight title, and 4A-1A-B. I talked to every champion, somehow, despite the craziness that at one point had four area wrestlers in four different classifications going at once. Unfortunately now I can't link, don't know why. This could be operator error but at 1 a.m., I'm not worrying too much, you can get the stories on line.

In addition to the curiosity of seeing if I could get on-line, which obviously I did and I still don't know why this thing had to make my deadline life miserable, I had to know how things turned out on my beats. Again, I'm not linking, but hopefully late tonight after I drove home, help my wife finishing painting a room that gets carpet on Monday, and vote for the Top 25 in women's basketball.

But now I know, Gonzaga's seventh WCC title is won out-right (shocking right?), Eastern is in the Big Sky Tournament (expected, but not the struggle), Idaho doesn't win on Senior Day, Washington State can't get sweep of Arizona State. Haven't read the details but that will have to wait, this screen is fading out, no, wait, that's my eyes..

And those Spokane Chiefs ... 6-2 winners at Tri-City. I didn't expect that, maybe the win, not the score. The Chiefs were in Kelowna Friday, the Americans were home, where they rarely lose. The rematch Monday in Kennewick, necessary because of the New Years Eve ppd game because of ice conditions, could be interesting.  Roadtrip?

Anyway, back tomorrow night, maybe. Not promising anything when the boss is threatening with a paint brush and a deadline.

Oh, did I mention, to cap the day, I had to get gas at midnight? When you're hot, you're hot.

Oops, forgot all about tweeting. Sorry, that too shal pass.
