Website reports WSU staff changes

The national title football game corresponds with the football coaches' convention, so there is always a lot of news about job movement. One source that keeps up with the comings and goings has a report about two Washington State assistants. Read on.

• There are reports on FootballScoop.com – a coaching-job clearinghouse – that defensive line coach Malik Roberson and linebackers coach Travis Niekamp have been let go by head coach Paul Wulff. Wulff, headed back from Phoenix, was not available for comment tonight, so any confirmation or denial of this has to wait until tomorrow. And, of course, whatever we find out we'll pass along. Whatever you believe about job performance, remember these are folks with families who may have just lost their livelihood.
• UPDATE: According to a WSU spokesman, "no changes have been made." So the report is probably premature, though, as I see it, that doesn't mean something couldn't happen. All assistants are under contract until March 31.
