Rain or snow, outdoor hockey game is a spectacle

Who wouldn't be worried about an outdoor hockey game in this weather? After a day in the 40's with plenty of rain, it only cools off to the high 30's tonight, with a high on Saturday for the Spokane Chiefs game with Kootenay at Avista Stadium, of about 41, although the chance of rain tapers off.

Columnist John Blanchette takes a look at the spectacle.

First, the two teams meet tonight in Cranbrook. The Ice were big-time buyers at Monday's Western Hockey League trade deadline and Jeff Bromley's blog takes a look at their blockbuster. ... The Ice also have to do a little bit of extra packing for the trip down here on Saturday. Kootenay players are looking forward to the game.
