Baker has surgery, Bjorklund questionable

Before we get to the women's basketball advances for this weekend's game, tough news out of Missoula where sophomore Katie Baker (Lake City) had an emergency appendectomy and could miss the rest of the season.

Also, senior Angie Bjorklund (U-Hi) is likely to miss Tennessee's game tonight with a foot problem. "It's time for (teammates) to tell Angie 'Don't worry about it. We've got your back,' " Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt said.

Big game tonight at St. Mary's, which trails Gonzaga by just a game in the WCC standings. Saturday the Zags go on down to San Diego. Then they're home for five of the final seven. The high-scoring Zags, with Courtney Vandersloot leading the nation in assists, take on Louella Tomlinson, who is the leader in blocked shots. Not to throw out a jinx but Tomlinson has never beaten the Bulldogs. The game is televised.

Idaho is home against league-leading Louisiana Tech and then New Mexico State comes in.

Eastern has a pair of road games at Portland State and Idaho State.

Washington State is at Washington on Sunday. The Cougs are a game up on the Huskies, maybe this is when the streak (30 straight UW wins) ends. The game is on FSN.
