The Idaho men's basketball team dropped its second straight game Thursday night, losing at Louisiana Tech 71-56. The Vandals shot just 38 percent from the field and 42 percent (6 of 13) from the free throw line against a team they clobbered by 30 at Moscow on New Year's Eve.

The Bulldogs, losers of eight straight coming in, outrebounded the Vandals 44-31. Olu Ashaolu, the WAC's top rebounder, put up 24 points and 18 boards. "I thought we got completely dominated in the post," UI coach Don Verlin said, "and when you do that, you’re going to lose by 15 on the road, and that’s what happened to tonight.”
Jeff Ledbetter led the Vandals with 20 points, but no other UI player reached double figures.
With Boise State's overtime loss to New Mexico State and Nevada's win over Fresno State, there's now a four-way tie for second place in the WAC. BSU, NMSU, Nevada and Idaho are 5-3 -- three games behind 8-0 Utah State. The Vandals will travel to play the Aggies on Saturday night. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
