Whitworth up big at halftime

Senior guard Michael Taylor scored 16 first-half points and Whitworth's suffocating man-to-man defensive pressure held Linfield to 23.1 percent shooting (6-for-26) as the No. 2-ranked Pirates rolled to a 35-16 halftime lead over their Northwest Conference rivals at Whitworth Fieldhouse on Friday night.

David Riley had 11 points for the Bucs, who built their big lead at intermission despite shooting an uncharateristically low 37.5 percent (6-for-16) from 3-point range.

Nobody on Linfield's roster had more than four points in the first half.
