WSU gets back at it today

Monday mornings are usually good for a excellent cup of coffee – like everything, my wife Kim is so much better at making coffee than I am – and a few links. Today is different. No, the coffee is more than excellent, sublimely smooth would be a better phrase (hey, a compliment here and there keeps a marriage running). But there are a few more links than normal to pass along. If you've got a good cup of joe, read on.

• Washington State: Some slim pickings here, though we have a couple things. I checked yesterday and there was no change in either Reggie Moore's or Klay Thompson's status for this week. The Cougars had the day off yesterday, will practice in Pullman today then head to Los Angeles tomorrow morning. Me too. ... We also have to be out at spring football's kickoff session today at 3:45. Looks as if the weather will cooperate, to a degree. As in 38 of them, which is the predicted temperature at the start. I can't complain, though. I will be wearing shorts by tomorrow afternoon. This is an official White Leg Alert. ... As for stories, Jim Moore has some thoughts on the Cougars' chance in the third meeting against the Huskies. ... And CougCenter recaps Saturday's game (this was posted yesterday, but after our morning links went up). ... The LA Times' Chris Dufresne shares a few words about Klay Thompson. ... Jon Wilner has a blog post that says if WSU defeats Washington on Thursday night, UCLA is assured of getting to the Pac-10 tournament final. OK. ... By the way, you can see the entire tournament schedule here. The link also includes the women's tournament. The Cougars will play USC Wednesday evening on the Trojans' home court. We'll be there. ...

• Around the Pac-10: As for the Huskies, there is some concern in that area, though Tacoma's John McGrath still has faith. That may move mountains, but a few close-in shots falling are much more important in basketball wins. And intimidation helps too, though UW isn't nearly as intimidating as they once were, according to Steve Kelley. ... Oregon is on a losing streak. That has to stop or it will be a short trip to Los Angeles. ... Arizona and Arizona State have different goals this week.

• That's all for this morning. We'll be back this afternoon for sure. Promise. Book it. Or not. Until then ...
