Chiefs defeat Everett 4-2

The Spokane Chiefs used a dominating first period - a 22-5 shot advantage, goals by Brenden Kichton, Steve Kuhn and Anthony Bardaro - to jump start a 4-2 win over the Everett Silvertips at the Arena Tuesday night.

It was the first of a five-game homestand, the final one of the Western Hockey League season. The win moved the Chiefs one point behind Portland in the battle for the top seed in the Western Division. The Chiefs would win the division if they win their final six games since the season ends with the teams matching up in Portland.

The Silvertips got a second period goal on the only power play of the night in the second period and pulled within one with 5 minutes to goal but Bardaro's second goal saved the game.

3 stars: 3, Everett G Luke Siemens; 2, Kuhn; 1, Bardaro.
