WSU ready to open NIT tonight

COUGARS

It's game day in the Palouse. Game night, really. NIT game night. Washington State hosts Long Beach State in the final NIT first-round game tonight in Beasley Coliseum. We have more on that and other Pac-10 items, so read on.

••••••••••

• Washington State: We linked our advance, which ran in this morning's paper, yesterday and we really don't have a lot to add from the Cougars side of things as practice was closed. We can pass along this story about the 49ers from Long Beach and the Seattle Times' all-state basketball team, which includes future Cougar DaVonte Lacy. ... If WSU wins tonight, it will host Oklahoma State in a second-round game sometime this weekend. The Cowboys ran Harvard off the court early last night in Stillwater. .... And that's about it.

•••

• Around the Pac-10: California is preparing for its NIT matchup with Mississippi, the first time the Bears have ever played Mississippi in hoops. ... Oregon has a CBI game at home tonight against Weber State of the Big Sky, and the Ducks are happy the money was invested. ... Speaking of happy, Washington is pleased to have Venoy Overton back and pleased with the play of Aziz N'Diaye. ... USC has a first-round NCAA date with Virginia Commonwealth tonight and Kevin O'Neill will be back on the bench. ... Another Tyler Honeycutt feature from Los Angeles. ... There are still a couple Arizona Wildcats with NCAA experience.

•••

• That's it for this morning. We'll be back this evening before the game. Until then ...
