March is lion-like for WSU in NY

Good morning from New York. Took a nice long walk to and from dinner last night and was shocked by the depth of the chill. It is actually quite a bit colder here in the city than it is in Pullman. Plus the wind won't stop blowing. It feels like basketball season. And it still is, what with the NCAA surprises over the weekend and the NIT semifinals tomorrow night. For more, read on.

• Washington State: The four teams' coaches and a few players meet the New York press in a couple hours and we'll be there. It should be quite interesting. … We had this story in the S-R this morning on Wichita State, a team with a lot of depth. That's even more apparent in this story from the Wichita Eagle. … Back in Pullman, the football team has today off, but gets back to the spring grind tomorrow afternoon.

• Around the Pac-10: Not a lot today, with a couple post mortems on Arizona's surprisingly successful season leading the way. … And there is one more team still playing, the Oregon Ducks, who have a game in Omaha tonight. That's in the CBI's final series.

• That's it for this morning. We'll see what type of story we get out of the presser today and that will be our advance of tomorrow night's game. Until later …
