Final numbers & final word on DQ’s

So, after filing three track stories from Tacoma, I did the only logical thing, put my feet up, quenched my thirst and took a little deeper look at the results. Keep reading for the final post from D on all the D's.

A quick look show that there were 13 DQ's at Mt. Tahoma, 5 DNF's and 1 DNS.

There is no distinction for a FS (false start), but it's likely the 100-hurdles DQ, and probably the three DQs in the 400 relays, where there were also three DNF, which is a dropped baton .could have been FS. ... and I left out one DNF (I told you it was a quick look and I didn't mark off the state champion North Central boys). ... Sprint relays could be a false start, exchange zone foul or a drop. ... Also, there are three DQ's in the 300 hurdles, but when it comes to hurdles, it could also be a foul - I know of at least one.  ... There was a DQ in the 800 relay for 2A girls but I didn't pick it up in time to ask the Cheney coach.

Anyway, that is still a lot of DQ's but for sure only four that I know off were for running on the line, two opening legs of 1,600 relays and two open 400 runners, all from the GSL. There was a third 1,600 relay DQ but I don't know why. Mead girls coach Dori Robertson, after hearing from other observers, said her 1,600 relay team was guilty.  That confirms one thing I always suspected about the GSL, they'll cheat ya to beat ya.

Oops, almost forgot, I found the official sheet that included a DQ in the Wheelchair 400 for being out of his  lane. It was for the athlete that was very much last. You can draw your own conclusion. ... I kept trying to write a reasoning sentence, at least saracastically, in support of that, just to see if I could, I failed miserably.

Just for fun (I'm sick) I whizzed through the small school results from Eastern Washington and I'll have you know two things. Those small town officials don't get it, there were only five DQ's, two in 800 relays, two in 400 relays and a 200 and one other marked false start. What, those kids that run on cinder tracks where lanes if marked, are marked in flour, and they can't even cut corners and run out of their lanes?

Now, I could be all done with this sarcasim, and I will be in just moments, but first I want to share some information I picked up in the last couple of hours from a trusted friend. It relates to the high-profile DQ in Pasco a few years back referenced in the previous post. "The two people involved in that DQ were westsiders brought into the meet by WIAA people and that one of them was the notorious flag 'gun slinger'  waver that we all have learned to love."

Gotta say, there are life lessons to be learned  from disappointments, but I think that at times there is no need for those hard life lessons.
