A busy Tuesday from WSU

COUGARS

Most Tuesday morning posts are pretty dry, cut down from the weekend and not a lot of meat on their bones. But not today. Even the Washington State entry has some surprise items. Read on.

••••••••••

• Washington State: Now I know how a lame duck coach feels. After asking everyone to slow down the personal attacks yesterday, they just kept coming. Really, how hard is it to write: “Jane, you're arguments are flawed,” instead of writing “Jane, you ignorant slut,” in the comments? Just wondering. … We had our first look at the Arizona State game in today's S-R. Our usual Tuesday morning item. … Freelancer Howie Stalwick has this basketball preview story and summary in the News Tribune for you to peruse this morning. … Cougfan checked in with three recruits and got their take on the noise surrounding the WSU football program and its coaching staff.

• Around the Pac-12: ESPN.com's Ted Miller had an extra-busy day yesterday, what with the Pac-12 players of the week, looking at the race and his weekend rewind. Wait, those are his usual items. How about the Pac-12 Network taking over the world, or some interesting comments coming out of Seattle or the big game this weekend? … Jon Wilner has more on the media rights announcement from yesterday and why it's important. … Bob Clark doesn't feel the $2,000 to scholarship athletes is the best idea. … Washington: The Huskies need Keith Price to bounce back against USC after a tough loss to Oregon. … The first steps toward the “new” Husky Stadium began Monday. … Oregon State: Nothing today. … Oregon: The Duck defensive line has to step up and help UO avoid an early deficit. … California: The Bears are still dealing with injuries from the Cougar contest. … Stanford: The Cardinal prepare for the biggest game in its stadium's history. … Chris Owusu's mouthguard is recording his toughest hits. … Colorado: The Buffs have a lot of ex-Wildcats on the staff. … Utah: The reason the Utes are moving the ball better is the offensive line is getting better. … USC: Steve Sarkisian's remarks about Matt Barkley and Andrew Luck get some airtime. … UCLA: Despite the recent success, the Bruins still have skeptics. … Arizona State: Dennis Erickson falls on his sword. … Arizona: The Wildcats are favored. Of course, it's at Colorado. … UA is the first pac-12 school to play an official basketball game. The Wildcats won over Valparaiso, 73-64.

• That's it for this morning. It's Tuesday, so there is the Pac-12 coaches conference call and Ken Bone's and Paul Wulff's conference calls to get through. Then there's football practice. We'll be back sometime after all that. Until then …
