A combo post from WSU

COUGARS • UPDATED: 8:45 P.M.

We're in Beasley, so we could watch the men's 67-39 beatdown of a depleted Grambling State team and as much of the women's game I can see while still writing. Read on.

••••••••••

• We'll have a link to Dave Trimmer's story on the basketball game – Dave was here to watch the women's game and volunteered to cover for me tonight as I write the Mike Leach stories – a bit later. UPDATE: Here is Dave's story. ... It wasn't much of a contest, as Grambling had just seven players and didn't put up much of a fight. Brock Motum had a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), Faisal Aden, who missed a bunch of shots in a row and was just 5 of 16 from the floor, finished with 12 points. ... We'll have more on that in the morning. ... As for the Leach news, we tried to keep everyone informed today on Twitter and on this site, but it got a bit overwhelming. Anyhow, we have our story, which lays out how this came to pass over the past two weeks, and the reaction to the news from a trio of WSU players. ... You can read WSU's official release on its website here.

UPDATE: Here's is John Blanchette's column on Leach's hire.

•••

• That's all for now. We'll be back in the morning, with the hope things will settle down. Until then ...
