Prep football this week

UPDATED

Although not so surprising to me, there's been an interesting development in Greater Spokane League football the first two weeks. It will be the topic of my column Thursday.

Click the tab below to read more.

ALSO: You can follow me live on Twitter throughout the week (@srpreps). I'll be tweeting Thursday at the Mt. Spokane/Shadle Park game, Friday at the Albi doubleheader and Saturday at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow for the Coeur d'Alene and Lake City games. Five games in three days. That's prep football nirvana.

There are four teams atop the GSL standings at 2-0 - and they're all 4A teams.

And four 3A teams are 0-2.

Thursday's matchup between 3A teams Mt. Spokane (0-2) and Shadle Park (0-2) shapes up to be a big game for this early in the season. Both teams have shown an ability to move the ball. This game should come down to which plays better defense.

Friday's matchups feature Gonzaga Prep (2-0) at University (0-2), Rogers (0-2) at Central Valley (2-0), North Central (1-1) vs. Ferris (2-0) at Albi and Mead (1-1) vs. Lewis and Clark (2-0), also at Albi.

Coeur d'Alene (3-0) and Lake City (2-1) take on a pair of California schools in a quadrupleheader at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow on Saturday. Lake City faces Rio Linda (1-1) at 5 followed by Coeur d'Alene meeting Whitney of Rocklin (2-0) at 8. Whitney features a quarterback who has given an oral commitment to the University of Oregon and a tight end who is headed to the University of Southern California.

QUESTION: Any thoughts on teams or games this week?
