WSU loses at San Diego State, 42-24

COUGARS

To be honest, the computer was put away and I was on my way out of Qualcomm when I remember I had yet to blog. We have some notes and links, so read on.

••••••••••

• A couple of housecleaning notes from the Twitterverse. Someone asked about Logwone Mitz and Kristoff Williams. I asked Wulff about Mitz and he said it was a coach's decision based on the play of Rickey Galvin and Carl Winston, nothing else. As for Williams, he was hacking away in the hotel prior to the game, so I think maybe that had something to do with his lack of playing time. ... There was also a line change in the third quarter when Matt Goetz came in for a series but I didn't ask about that. Will have to catch up tomorrow. ... As for the game, I asked Todd Sturdy if the Cougars left points on the field, as was the case especially in the first two years of the Wulff era, and he said yes. He pointed out the drops, a couple of misses on open passes and just not making plays. Nothing against Marshall Lobbestael, but the Cougar offense is better when Jeff Tuel is at quarterback, if only because he brings the threat of a run once in a while. That was missing today and would have helped against the San Diego State pressure. ... We have our early game story available as is our notebook.

• That's all for tonight. We'll be back in the morning, though I'm not sure exactly when as we have an early flight home. May do the blogging en route and post around 10 from up in the air. Until then. ...
