More on Thompkins below.

From Shock PR ...

The Spokane Shock announced today that WR Brandon Thompkins has re-signed with the team for the 2012 season. A late-season acquisition in 2011, Thompkins (5-10 185) made an immediate impact on Spokane’s lineup by collecting 17 receptions for 200 yards and three touchdowns in just four games.

“Brandon has great moves in the red zone. He can run some of those tricky routes on the quicker DB’s.  His explosion in and out of breaks is hard to match,” Head Coach Andy Olson explained. “He will only get better with time and we are looking forward to him developing into a great receiver here.”

Olson also said that he plans to use Thompkins in the kick return game as well. Olson is impressed with Thompkins’ physical gifts as well as his football IQ and how quickly he was able to pick up the offense last season. He expects Thompkins to pass on some of that knowledge to some of the younger players.

“He is going to be one of the few people who understand the offense right from the get-go,” Olson continued. “He is going to have the leadership ability to help guys out in the locker room with his knowledge. Having a core group of guys back from last year will be good for team chemistry.”
