An early(ish) Saturday awaits

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- Saw a funny tweet from a WSU athlete yesterday. It came from women's basketball player Sage Romberg, who said: "Whoa everyone and their mothers are in Pullman!" In case you didn't know, it's Mom's Weekend here. But there are other things going on, too, such as another football scrimmage this morning. Read on.

...

Not much WSU news on this Saturday morning, though we'll have plenty after today's scrimmage. Mike Leach said on Thursday that he expects it will last about 110 plays again, as it did last week. Practice begins at 10:10 a.m. ... We did have this AP story in the newspaper today about formal charges being filed against Ryan Leaf, who could be sentenced to as many as 50 years in prison. ... Mike Leach has been granted a request to consolidate his pending lawsuits against Craig James, ESPN and Spaeth Communications. ... The WSU baseball team won its series opener against Utah, 9-2.

Around the Pac-12 ... An Arizona linebacker is hoping this year's spring game goes better than his last. Plenty of future Pac-12 basketball talent will be on display in the Jordan Brand Classic all-star game tonight. ... Arizona State got its first football commitment for the class of 2013. ... Washington is dealing with some issues on the offensive line. Kasen Williams' progression is a hot topic. ... Another highly-touted USC recruit will enroll early. ... A Utah running back is already proving elusive. ... Colorado is ready for its spring game today. ... Oregon's biggest recruit is already adjusting well. ... A bit on California's defense from Ted Miller.

That's all we've got for now. Off to the scrimmage in a bit. More later.
