Meikle commits to Gonzaga

Gonzaga picked up a Class of 2013 verbal commitment from Lucas Meikle, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound forward at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma. Meikle's commitment was first reported by the Seattle Times.

Messages left for Meikle and Bellarmine Prep coach Bernie Salazar weren't returned. I wasn't able to find a ton of information on Meikle, but I was told he can stretch the court as a pick-and-pop '3' or '4'.

Meikle averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds for Bellarmine Prep (24-5) as a junior last season. He had 15 points and 12 boards as the Lions lost in the 4A State Tournament semifinals to Davis. Meikle suffered a concussion early in the first quarter in Bellarmine Prep’s loss to Union in the consolation finals. He was named second-team All-Tournament.

Meikle was a first-team All-Narrows League selection.

I'll update if the phone rings.
