After three scrimmages between a total of 63 players on fresh Arena ice, the first day of training camp is in the books for the Spokane Chiefs.

There are 17 veterans playing (and two others who are healing from minor injuries - more on that later), and two first-timers: Evan Fiala (first-round pick in 2012) and Mikulas Rimmel, the Chiefs' pick in this summer's CHL import draft. Rimmel replaces Dominik Uher, who has moved on to the American Hockey League.

Here's the story I filed for tomorrow's paper. We'll be at camp each day, with another story coming on Sunday. I'll have more notes here tomorrow night.
